Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
- Cut butter into flour and salt until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cold water gradually until dough forms. Split dough into two, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out one half of dough to fit the pan and place in bottom.
- Mix almond paste, sugar, almond extract, egg yolk, and milk. Spread over crust.
- Roll the other dough half and place on top, sealing edges.
- Brush top with beaten egg white and sprinkle sanding sugar if using.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Use quick release steam cues if using pressure cooker. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
- Slice into bars and serve.
Notes
Cool bars completely before slicing for best results. Store leftovers in fridge wrapped in plastic or freeze individually to enjoy later.
